Scottsdale Plane Crash Involves Vince Neil’s Private Jet, One Dead and 4 Injured
Local authorities reported that a Scottsdale plane crash at Scottsdale Airport, Arizona, on Monday afternoon involved a private jet owned by Vince Neil, the lead vocalist of Mötley Crüe. The accident resulted in one fatality and left four others injured.
Scottsdale Fire Department officials confirmed that the aircraft, a Learjet 35A, veered off the runway after landing and hit a parked Gulfstream 200 business jet. The crash happened at about 2:39 p.m. local time and prompted an emergency response from crews of the Scottsdale Fire Department.
Captain Dave Folio, a spokesman for the Scottsdale Fire Department, said one person died of injuries, while four others were injured, two of them seriously injured passengers. Emergency responders rapidly freed one person pinned inside the wreckage.
The Learjet 35A, coming in from Austin, Texas, was reportedly landing at Scottsdale Airport, as indicated by Kelli Kuester, the representative from the airport. According to reports, it was said that the aircraft’s left main landing gear collapsed after touchdown and then lost control before hitting the stationary Gulfstream 200 jet.
According to flight records, the Learjet is owned by Chromed in Hollywood, Inc., a Wyoming entity, with the owner listed as Vince Neil. However, the rock star was not on board when the accident occurred.
According to an official statement to USA TODAY, Worrick Robinson, Neil’s legal representative, confirmed that the rockstar was not on the jet. Here’s the statement:
“At 2:39 p.m. local time, a Learjet aircraft Model 35A owned by Vince Neil was attempting to land at Scottsdale Airport. For reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runway, causing it to collide with another parked aircraft. On board Mr. Neil’s plane were two pilots and two passengers. Mr. Neil was not on the plane.”
Neil extended sympathy to the families of the disaster victims and praised the first respondents who helped offer crucial services within the crash zone.
TMZ says that the accident victims included the girlfriend of the singer, Rain, and her close friend. Both women have been taken to a local hospital for treatment.
The runway of Scottsdale Airport was closed shortly after the accident. Fire trucks and other emergency responders were seen rushing to the scene to tackle the situation and help the affected people.
Officials from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have taken over the investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. The aviation safety authorities will assess factors such as mechanical issues, pilot error, and weather conditions.
This tragic accident marks the first fatal crash at Scottsdale Airport since 2018, when a plane carrying six people crashed shortly after takeoff, killing all onboard.
Scottsdale Airport is among the busiest in Arizona, frequently hosting private jets and corporate aircraft. The occurrence has raised fears about the current safety measures regarding aviation and also the reliability of aging aircraft models such as Learjet 35A.
Through further investigation, the authorities are going to see to it that safety measures will be reinforced not to allow this kind of air disaster to recur.
